Our Educational Outreach

We collaborate with hospitals, governments, universities, and community stakeholders to increase public awareness of the importance of patient advocacy. We hope that making patient advocacy freely available to those in need will improve health equity.

Education, connection and grants

HEI helps educate patients in health advocacy so they can better advocate for themselves. HEI connects patients with pro bono advocacy resources and provides grants to advocates who offer advocacy to patients in need–so that advocacy is available to all patients regardless of ability to pay.

Advocating for Change

We work with organizations that improve health outcomes by combating systemic inequities in healthcare. We advocate on behalf of patients for policy change that promotes health equity at the local, state, and national level.

The Goals of Advocacy:

To offer guidance and support to patients so they can make informed decisions about their health and medical care. Self-advocacy is challenging, particularly for the very young, the elderly, for those with disabilities, for low income groups, for minorities and for those who do not speak English.

We hope that making patient advocacy freely available to those in need will improve health equity.

The Importance of a Good Advocate

In the early days after a diagnosis, the combination of shock, exhaustion, and the enormity of the challenge makes even the most confident, capable person unable to self-advocate.
